Disappointing Products: Drugstore Edition Part 2

Hello, my Lovelies!

I am usually always praising products on my blog, but being truthful about products is the best way to be. So I have hand picked a number of disappointing products from my collection, and will try my best to suggest alternatives that may work for you!

Barry M Natural Glow Palette 2

First of all, I will begin with the only positive point about this palette, it’s travel-friendly, although it would get very dirty and battered as it is cardboard packaging. As you will able to see from the swatches, the shadows are incredibly chalky, and just like the blush the lack pigmentation. Although I applied these shadows on top of an eyeshadow base, the little amount of pigment that is visible on the eyes is impossible to blend.

This is the only disappointing palette in my collection to date, and if you are looking for a drugstore alternative I would suggest the Makeup Revolution Palettes, a couple of my favourites include; The Fortune Favours the Brave Palette, The Salted Caramel Palette and The Flawless Ressurection Palette.

Freedom Pro Contour in Fair

Once again just like the Barry M palette, the powders are far too chalky although they are really pigmented! As this palette is created for fair skin, the highlight powder is too yellow toned and the contour powder is too red toned, so when I first applied the powders I looked like a red and yellow zebra. A contouring shade should have a lot more of an ashy tone.

Max Factor Colour Elixir Lip Gloss

First of all, I have no idea what the shade of the lip gloss is, as it was part of a free gift, and I’m not really a lipgloss person. Although these lipglosses are insanely pigmented, they are just so tacky and transferable, especially when drinking.

If you are looking for a drugstore alternative for lipglosses, my favourites are the NYX Butter Gloss, with my favourite shade being Tiramisu, but they do have a red alternative called Strawberry Jam.

SEVENTEEN Skin Wow Primer

 As a primer, this felt tacky on my skin and only sank into areas including my forehead, and cheeks, which aren’t really the places that need to be primed, and my base products didn’t blend as well. And even when I applied this a highlighter it began to break up the rest of the products on my face.

If you are looking for a drugstore alternative for an illuminating primer, my favourite is the L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Primer.
