#STAYHOME Tips on how to beat the blues when at home

Hello my lovelies,

First of all, I just wanted to start this post by saying that I hope you’re all safe and well. It’s a strange time that we’re going through, and as we enter the second week of the UK lockdown, I wanted to share with you all a few forms of escapism that have helped me over the last couple of weeks.

Self-Care Matters

Whilst we may not be leaving the house for a while, it’s always important to look after yourself both mentally and physically. Each morning, after I’ve made my bed, I hop in the shower, brush my hair and apply my daily skincare. I’ve found that this has allowed me to have a sense of normality, and whilst I may be skipping makeup, it’s made me feel so much better!

Eat, Sleep, Blog Repeat

Now although people may have been sceptical about this over the last few weeks, I always find blogging and creating content a great sense of escapism. Working as a content writer, it also allows me to keep my creative juices flowing.

Tidy room, tidy mind

Take this time to de-clutter and spring clean your space. Whether it be your wardrobe, your bedroom or your office, you’ll feel so much better relaxing in a space that is clean and tidy. When I can I will also be donating my unwanted items to one of our  local women’s shelter or to those less fortunate, and I highly recommend that you also do the same!

Listen to a podcast

I’ve recently found that listening to a podcast is one of the best ways to keep your brain switched on! These are available for free through Spotify, with my favourite one being the Table Manner’s podcast hosted by the incredibly talented Jessie Ware and her mum Lennie. Two of my wonderful blogging friends, Sophia Tranter and Louise Marguerite have also just launched their own fabulous podcast called The Chatty Edit! Well done girls!

Lights, Camera, Action!

With the recent launch of Disney+, now is the perfect time to binge watch some of your favourite childhood TV shows and films! From Camp Rock to Cinderella, a little bit of Disney is all you need to brighten up your day. I will be sharing some of my favourite recommendations in an upcoming blogpost, but I would also love to know yours too!

Colour Therapy Books

Now is time to get colouring! My colour therapy book keeps me entertained for hours and is the ideal distraction for when wanting to banish those negative thoughts. Available to buy through the likes of Amazon and Hobbycraft, I would highly recommend treating yourself to one, alongside a pack of colouring pencils or fineliner pens.

A few other recommendations; Baking/cooking, reading, listening to your favourite album/band, gardening and learning a new skill.

Most importantly, please use this time to create memories and happy moments with your loved ones and remember that we can only fight this together!
