The Best of the Illuminating Bases!

Hello, my loves x

If you are a reoccurring reader of my blog, you will be aware of how much I love to have glowy illuminated skin. Over the last few weeks, I have been applying my illuminating bases with my Real Techniques Stippling Brush,  beginning with an illuminating primer all over my face and then using a liquid highlighter on the high points on my face before applying my foundation and concealer.  I’ve found that by using this method it allows my skin to glow all day,  and my other base products are applying so much more seamlessly.

I wanted to share with you all the four go-to products that I use as part of my routine, I hope you enjoy!

NYX Professional Makeup Born To Glow Illuminating Primer

I mentioned this primer in my recent High Street Makeup Haul and it now has to be one of my favourite products from the drugstore! It’s thick tacky consistency when buffed into the skin feels so lightweight, and when combined with a liquid highlighter it allows me to have such a lovely glow. It has opal sheen to it, which I think for those with pale skin is the best shade of illuminator as it does not change the colour of your other base products, but it enhances a dewy foundation.

RRP: £12.50

L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Primer

This is my holy grail primer, to which it has recently been reformulated, to which it is also opalescent in shade, but this one has much more of a thinner consistency, whilst still being so long-lasting. The only downside of this primer is that if you use it every day it does tend to run out easily, which is why I now use in rotation with the primer from NYX.

RRP: £10.99

L’Oréal Paris Merry Metals Glow Drops

I picked this up over the festive period, to which I wanted to branch out into using liquid highlighters, and decided to purchase one from the drugstore before trying the illuminating drops from Iconic London or Cover FX. The Merry Metal drops are a beautiful pearlescent pink shade, to which I think when paired alongside the opalescent primers it adds so much warmth to my skin and adds a flush of colour.

Their waterweight consistency and the pipette applicator allows you to have a precise application, to which I apply the product to the tops of my cheekbones, my cupids bow,  brow bone, inner corner and down the centre of my nose.

RRP: £9.99

L’Oreal Paris True Match Liquid Glow Illuminator in Icy Glow

The liquid glow illuminators have much more a thicker consistency, to which if you are looking for a product for its longevity, I would recommend you pick up this against the glow drops. They also have much more of a metallic pink shade, to which I even think when applied with a very light hand could be used as a blush topper! Alongside Icy Glow, they also have Golden Glow which I think would look beautiful on dark skin or when wearing fake tan.

RRP: £8.99
